I've been a CB user for over 16 years, working in the agricultural sector. It's true that the cell phone has hurt this type of communication, but when I'm travelling in an oversize convoy (such as a threshing machine or large equipment) there's no substitute for the cb to warn me of any dangers I might encounter on the move (such as a fast-moving car, another convoy arriving in the opposite direction, etc.)...
